Illinois Commerce Commission order a victory for solar, advocates say
Illinois passed the Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA) which you will hear about for some time. The act will be creating jobs in the renewable energy field to power Illinois’ future. However, the law was challenged and the Illinois Commerce Commission has proposed changes to allow the benefits to be reserved for in-state residents equally.
Some changes proposed include:
- Ban renewable energy credits from out of state
- Allow municipalities and coop customers to participate in the SREC program
- Community solar to prioritize many small consumers over a single large industrial user
We applaud the revisions to the FEJA and will participate to bring the jobs and environmental benefits to all Illinois customers.
