Illinois’s largest utility unveils $100M to spur EV adoption
The policy whiplash coming out of Washington can make it very difficult to implement planning for consumers, state Governments or companies.
Climate challenges, convenience, and cost reductions have led Governments worldwide to encourage EV adoption. President Trump and his administration are an outlier. They are actively undermining $100 million in investment and consumer purchases.
In the midst of this confusion, it is understandable that governments, companies along with consumers might wait for clarity. However, that is not what is happening.
ComEd and the State of Illinois continue to recognize the reasons why EV adoption began nearly 20 years ago. ComEd is announcing the goals of climate change, the economic advantages of EV, and the adoption by consumers will continue to drive business decisions. As such, ComEd announced the following investments.
- $100 million with specific targets of
- $53 million for business and public EV fleet adoption
- $38 million for infrastructure upgrades (transmission and distribution)
- $9 million for residential support
